Last weekend we had an amazing in-school workshop on inquiry, run by Kathy Short. She is a professor in the program of Language, Reading and Culture at the University of Arizona and has worked extensively with teachers to develop curriculum that actively involves students as readers and inquirers.
In this two-day workshop, through the use of literature from diverse cultures, Dr. Short and classroom teachers have focused curriculum to include International mindedness. Using critical thinking strategies with literature of diverse issues and perspectives, children will be encouraged to think more globally.
Today SEKMUN has started. What is SEKMUN? Its an educational and cultural project authorized by the UN, which applies the “United Nations Model” at SEK Schools.
The “United Nations Model” was started in the 1920’s by a group of students who simulated a UN General Assembly and assemblies of other multilateral bodies.
Today Mrs. Fidelma Murphy, SEK Dublin principal, has visited SEK-Qatar to present SEK Dublin programs. If you were not able to come, you can contact her by e-mail (you can find the details below). We would like to share this video made by one of their 4 E.S.O. students to introduce the school.
Welcome to SEK Qatar blogosphere. This is another way to be in touch with all our educational community. From here you can browse to our different classrooms blogs, departments and IB programmes. We’ll be growing step by step. We hope you enjoy it.
